About Pam
Biography:
Pam Whyte has always instinctively understood the way dogs think and communicate.
Even as a child, it was frequently observed that when she was around, dogs were calmer.
After three years at Witwatersrand University from 1960 to 1962 studying psychology and the social sciences, her marriage in 1963 gave her two children and three dogs. Friends were always astonished at her pets’ exemplary behaviour, and as a result, she felt drawn to reveal her ‘secrets.’ This led to a lifelong passion to learn yet more about dogs, and to share her knowledge with all dog owners. Using her proven methods, Pam has emerged into the public spotlight from time to time, earning her a reputation for robust views. These, and her astounding results have not always endeared her to those who use conventional methods. But Pam is uncontrite, holding workshops, giving remedial training, talks and lectures, and writing her popular books, and papers for academic institutions. Her work on Pack Communication is recognised around the world.
Through conducting extensive studies of wild dog behaviour in East Africa, Pam is able to teach dog owners their dog’s own inbuilt, natural " language", which gives them immediate results, because their dog does not have to learn anything artificial. The results are therefore permanent – and that is, without spending time and effort! Having a well-behaved dog will simply slot into your lifestyle!
The communication tools you need to bring your dog under willing control are here. This web site contains proven techniques based on a thorough understanding of dog behaviour over many years: why dogs behave the way they do, how to modify behaviour you do not like, how to have a dog that obeys willingly, how dogs communicate, what your dog is trying to say to you...
Experience:
Pam calls on over three decades of on-hands experience in many thousands of homes in many countries. She teaches the communication tools you
need to modify your dog's behaviour, using proven techniques based on a thorough understanding of dog behaviour. Natural Dog Training teaches
you how dogs communicate naturally. Simply, and powerfully - with no stress to either dog or owner. Through personal visits, and Natural Dog
Training Home-Kits, Pam has taught many thousands of families the powerful, yet gentle techniques, which change disobedient and unruly dogs of
all sorts into social, trustworthy pets. Her success has also prompted her to write books, make video's, and develop a range of dog leads which
enable all members of the family to bring their dogs under willing control. How?! Naturally , of course!
You will already see an improvement in your dog's behaviour in just one visit, after which any extra time is free - and you can have as much
free time as you need! And if you purchase any of Pam's books, leads, videos, or her Natural Dog Training Home-Kit, you will also start
seeing results right away. Natural dog training is as serious as you are about solving your dog' s behaviour problems.
Pam holds workshops, gives remedial training at dog training schools, gives talks and lectures, and writes her popular books, and papers
for pet owners, and academic institutions. She has a very loyal following of dog owners whom she has assisted with their pets both locally and
overseas. Her work on Pack Communication is recognised by such institutions as: The Plastic Surgeon's Association, RSA; Child Accident
Prevention Society, UK; Animal Protection Institute, USA; Veterinary Universities, USA; Anglia Survival, UK; Conservationists in East
Africa; University de Nancy, France; Guide Dogs Ass. France ; Paneikon , Italy ; Wild dog Productions, and Medical Research scientists in New Zealand.
Philosophy:
As civilized dog owners, we need to realise just how
intelligent, intuitive, emotional, and complex our domestic dog is - and how he thinks, feels and "speaks".
Dogs are actually designed to live within families, and within a loyal and mutually caring social system. They also have their own
instinctive social "language", which they bring with them into our homes - bag and baggage. Even better - they have a highly developed
conscience that enables them to adopt our "ground rules", without us having to keep disciplining and commanding
them - because the pack that our dog was designed to live in, all have a very powerful moral code.
This means that our dogs are actually "pre-packaged" to move into our homes, with the ability to know the difference between what
is acceptable behaviour, and what is not acceptable behaviour. provided we know how to communicate these parameters to them! And this is not
achieved through telling our dog what to do with commands, anger and discipline! Or no-one would be having any behaviour problems with their
dogs, and dogs would not fail at dog training. Every single dog owner who seeks help with their dog's behaviour has commanded their dogs -
many have taken them to training, some for months and even years, yet their dogs are still "naughty", "disobedient",
and have behaviour problems! It is achieved through setting our dog parameters - in a way that his instincts are designed to relate to .
In dog language.
Doesn't that sound exciting? Or does it sound complicated? It is nowhere near as complicated as living with a "disobedient" dog!
As a Western Society, we "jam up" our dog's finely tuned communication system with our artificial and inappropriate army and laboratory
approaches, making us think that our dogs are stupid, stubborn, disobedient etc. In the wild - the pack cooperates with their alpha, who is their
captain - whom they trust. They do not obey him through fear of punishment - he leads by example - not through giving commands.
Pam can show you the signals your dog expects, and the cues to avoid, to establish the behaviour patterns you want. And because
dog language is so simple, it simply fits into your lifestyle. You do not have to fit in with it.
Pam's unique and empowering philosophy inspires academic institutions and animal welfare organisations internationally:
"I could hardly believe it when I visited your site, because I have been looking for Pam Whyte for years! We talked when I was at the Animal Protection Institute way back around 2001; but lost touch when I left there. I’ve never forgotten her amazing videos and book, because her methods are by far the best I’ve ever seen. In fact, was just thinking about Pam the other day as I was walking a friend’s dog! So I am thrilled to see your website at www.trustworthydogs.com.
If there’s anything else I can do to help promote your wonderful program, just ask!
Cheers,
Dr. Jean. (Vet, USA)

"Thank you very much for your most interesting article. I will definitely pass it on to the Editor of Companion to be published.
I like the individuality of your thoughts and I am of the opinion that you are a good observer and interpreter of the contact between man and dog. You are more than capable of thinking for yourself and I see this as a valuable contribution in this [animal behaviour] study. We need more people like you who are not afraid to make public their own honest observations.
In conclusion, I would like to congratulate you on an original piece of work." Professor J.S.J. Odendaal. Professor in Companionan Animal Zootechnology and Nutrition, University of Pretoria, Faculty of Veterinary Science.
